Mom Away

Mom Away

Hello, beautiful people!

I don’t know why this post took me soo long to publish, but here it is :).

For a very long time, I have been longing for a trip alone, a getaway to clear my mind. I knew I wanted to travel back to Milan in Italy, as it’s one of my favorite cities in the world. My last visit to the beautiful city in Italy was 9 years ago!!! I asked my mom if she wanted to go with me. She was so ready! Last time we traveled together was many years ago.

We were so EXCITED to go on a trip just the two of us on May 11th.

My son stayed at home with his dad, and luckily my little boy could handle it. I was just away for 3 days. He said, “I wouldn’t miss you so much because it’s only 3 days!”, I don’t know if it’s good or bad ;). I think it’s good.

One thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to stay very central, so we didn’t have to use any public transport. Luckily we found a very nice hotel, Uptown Palace the hotel is very close to the Duomo Cathedral about 15 mins walk – that was perfect!

We didn’t plan anything special for those days, as I hate to stress myself and that was definitely not the point of our trip. All that we did was to enjoy the sight of the beautiful city, drink lots of cappuccino, eat pizza and pasta. That’s it! But you might think, didn’t you shop in Milan? A little bit. To be honest, shopping stresses me and I prefer to shop online.

On our first day, we had dinner at the beautiful Dolce & Gabbana and Martini Bistro. Seriously, it’s so freaking good! If you ever get the chance to go to Milan, you must pay a visit to the bar/restaurant. The food – so good! The service – top! It was very random we saw the place, but boy did we love it!! For a while ago I was looking for good places to eat at in Milan, and it was one of them.

There are so many beautiful places in Milan, but while we were staying there, there were so many tourists, so any big attraction we tried to avoid it. I might write a post about what to see and do in Milan. This post is just to share what we did.

On our second day, we found a little coffee/eating spot JarIt, while walking to the city. Boy, did they have nice food in a jar, (which is where the name is from) and their cappuccino! It was so good! I’m a huge cappuccino fan, so I really appreciate a good one. After sitting there for many hours, enjoying the beautiful sun, 3 cappuccinos, and the lovely company with my mom, we headed to the city (which is 20 steps away!).

Another nice place to eat at is Cantina Piemontese it’s very close to JarIt, like 5 steps away. Seriously. The restaurant is so cozy and charming, you can eat inside and outside. We definitely preferred to sit outside that day as the weather was PERFECT! For the first time, I tried a risotto Milanese. A must try once in Milan.

I wanted to share a bit with you from our short trip, so I hope you enjoyed it!
